Panel Award Winners

We hosted our inaugural Panel Awards this year, and we had several nominees for the award categories. However, the following is work by those who won each award. We are excited and proud to share our Panel Award winners for 2026!


Sa'ada Isa Yahayah won both the Community Impact Award for a piece that resonated with the community and the Visual Impact Award for a visual piece that people loved. She won these awards for the following image, "Roses and Thorns," which was featured in Issue 05:

Adam Breier won the Brave and Bold Award for a bold contribution to one of our issues for this poem, "An Insatiable Thirst, featured in Issue 06:

Mayra G. Favela received the Rooted and Resonant Award for a marginalized creative who might often be overlooked. She won it for the following poem, "Closed Eyes," which is featured in Issue 01 (and it's also in Spanish, "Ojos Cerrados"):

Rachel Turney also won the Visual Impact Award, for a visual piece that was loved by the community, with the following image, "Art Like Honey," featured in Issue 05:

Sandra Beth Levy won the Unforgettable Line Award for the line, “made of midnight gong, shining bells smooth skin and furrowed brows hands of veined leaves in shadows the neck’s crevasse tiny fingers curled back to birth threads of bearded hair that dance a double helix–generations collapsed in time,” which was in the poem, "Silver Double Helix," in issue 06:

Gloria Maloney won the Debut Voice Award for a fresh voice and amazing debut piece. "Divine Revelation of God's Love" is the poem that won her the award, which is featured in issue 04:

Christian Lopez won the Beautifully Penned Award for his piece, "Medusa," that was well written. This poem was in issue 04:

Elle Estérre won the Best Ekphrasis Award for the issue 06 poem, "Garden of Venus":

Johannah Simon won The One to Watch Award for being one to keep an eye on for the following poem, "La Toilette," in issue 06:

While all of these awards were voted on, Lola (editor) and I (Jhazzy (editor-in-chief)) chose a piece each for Editor's Choice Awards.


Jhazzy chose "The Great Wall of LA" from issue 06 by Craig Constantine that resonated and is timely:

Lola chose this piece by Sandra Nexeus Stanic from issue 01, "The Islander," because she's a fan of Sandra's work and wanted to recognize her immense talent:
